Back in 2018 I wrote an article about possibly the first painting of Christmas Island. It was a watercolour dating to 1830. Last September I was contacted by Professor Alan Atkinson. He was able to tell me the name of the ship that the artist was travelling on and discussed the watermark that was on the watercolour paper. It’s a little bit of a mystery.
